Sainte Devote Rugby Challenge - Saturday 1st February 2014

In collaboration with the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, the Fédération Monégasque de Rugby is organising the 4th edition of the "Sainte-Dévote Challenge" as part of the festivities in honour of the Patron Saint of the Principality. This event will take place on Saturday 1st February 2014, from 14:00 to 16:30, at the Louis II Stadium in Monaco.

Players from RC Toulon's 'première' team will be present, in particular Argentinian Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe, as well as other internationals from RCT and Castres Olympique in order to encourage the budding players.

The famous Brennus Shield, awarded to the Champions de France, will be on display.

The aim of this tournament is to develop the values of rugby beyond the sporting aspect.

The Challenge, between Lucciana and Monaco, will enable the young Monegasque and Corsican rugby players to play for the trophy.

This year, the Under 11s Tournament, boasting an international dimension, will bring together children's teams from Corsica (Lucciana), Spain (Barcelona), Italy (Imperia, Mirano and Pro Recco) and Monaco.

At the same time, pedagogical workshops and special courses will be organised for young disabled persons (from medico-educational centres) to allow them a gentle and fun introduction to rugby. The children will be looked after by the under-15 members of the Fédération Monégasque de Rugby who are keen to impart their passion for rugby and the values it promotes. A.M.A.P.E.I. , CLIS St Exupery, Monaco Disease Power, SEGPA Monaco, SEGPA Vento and Ulysse will participate in this programme.

Fondation Cuomo, Fondation Sancta Devota and Firmus are sponsors of this event.

Free entry.
