During his school years and at university, the Prince shone in a multitude of sporting disciplines for which he received numerous distinctions : in athletics (cross country and javelin), handball, judo (black belt), swimming (Academy Champion), tennis, rowing, sailing, skiing, squash and fencing.
His Highness has a particular fondness for soccer, a sport he continues to practice with the team he formed, known as the "Barbagiuans".
In July 1984: The Prince accompanied the Monegasque Olympic delegation on a private basis to the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
In 1985 and 1986: His Highness participated in the Paris-Dakar Rally.
Since 1986: Bobsleigh - Along with the members of the Monegasque Bobsleigh, Toboggan and Skeleton Federation, which he himself created, Prince Albert participated, as an athlete, in the Winter Olympics in Calgary (1988), Albertville (1992), Lillehammer (1994), Nagano (1998) and Salt Lake City (2002).
In 1987: His Highness received the Sports Academy 1986 "Claude Foussier" Prize, awarded by Academy Chairman, Mr. Claude Foussier himself.
On September 27th, 1987: H.S.H. Prince Albert received the United States Sports Academy's "Eagle Award".
During 1993: His Highness was Patron of the "Patrouille de France" (Air Force Aerobatics team).
