Monaco and Japan established diplomatic relations on 14 December 2006.

The two countries both invest, each on its own scale, in aid for development, plus specifically in Africa. They are also committed to environmental protection.

At present, Monaco is innovating by expanding its diplomatic action to Asia, while Japan's action now covers a geographic area that extends all the way to Europe.
