First day of the official visit to Senegal of HSH Prince Albert II

In the early afternoon, the Sovereign Prince was greeted at Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport by HE Bécaye Diop, Minister of State, Minister of the Interior.

After the Ceremony of Honours Rendered by the Presidential Guard, HSH Prince Albert II went to Dakar where, accompanied by a delegation from the Principality*, He granted several audiences. In particular, he received Mamadou Seck, President of the National Assembly, and Pape Diop, President of the Senate.

At the end of the day, HSH the Sovereign Prince went to the Presidential Palace for a private meeting with the President of the Republic of Senegal, HE Abdoulaye Wade. Alongside members of the Senegalese Government, He also participated in meetings with the Ambassadress of Senegal to France and Monaco, HE Maimouna Sourang Ndir.

During the Gala Dinner at the Presidential Palace, HSH the Prince declared: “Your country is particularly dear to our hearts because it is for us like a bridge between our two continents. The Principality stands by the side of Senegal to recognize to populations the right to access to health care, a healthy environment and strong cultural and athletic development. (...) I would also like to pay special tribute here to the determined action conducted by Senegal's First Lady through her Foundation in the service both of the people's well-being and environmental conservation.”

In parallel with the first day of this official visit to Senegal, a delegation from the Monegasque Chamber of Economic Development (CDE) organized several meetings with economic decision-makers and entrepreneurs from Senegal for the purpose of increasing exchanges and reinforcing opportunities between the two countries.
