He participated in a working dinner with Carlos Manuel Martins do Vale Cesar, President of the Autonomous Region of the Azores. They discussed issues linked to environmental protection.
Saturday 10 April: HSH the Prince visited the Prince Albert I of Monaco Weather Observatory. The Principality and the Portuguese Institute of Meteorology have funded rehabilitation works on Faial Island since the earthquake of 1998.
This Observatory was built in 1915 and named for Prince Albert I of Monaco in tribute to his many oceanographic research campaigns in the Azores archipelago from 1885 to 1913 and his close ties with King Carlos I of Portugal.
Now equipped with the latest technology, the Observatory can pursue scientific work in the areas of meteorology and seismology. Close scientific cooperation will be set up between the Prince Albert I of Monaco Observatory and the Principality's scientific institutions.
