Presentation of a new partnership for the use of electric vehicles between the Principality of Monaco and Nice-Côte d’Azur
|As part of its strategy of environmentally friendly mobility, the Nice-Côte d'Azur Conurbation launched 'Auto Bleue' (Car Pooling) in the spring
of 2011. This service provides electric vehicles for car sharing.
In the long term, 210 electric vehicles will be available in the Nice-Côte d'Azur territory with a total of 70 stations. The Principality has been developing a policy of
support for electric vehicles for years.
To date, nearly 350 (two and four-wheel) electric vehicles are registered in Monaco.
There are over 400 charging stations in public car parks and, more recently, two quick-charging systems in the street. In order to promote the development of clean mobility on
the French Riviera, the Principality of Monaco and Nice-Côte d'Azur decided to pool their efforts to facilitate the use of electric vehicles in their territories.
In practice, starting on 2 September, this means: The creation of an identification sticker for electric vehicles for residents of the Principality of Monaco and Nice-Côte
d'Azur giving them advantages; Access to the charging terminals: subscribers to Monaco's car parks will be able to recharge the batteries of their electric vehicles at terminals
in Nice and, conversely, people renting 'Auto Bleue' vehicles will be able to recharge them in car parks in Monaco.
On Friday, after a demonstration of Monegasque electric vehicles on Place du Palais, Véronique Paquis, Deputy Mayor of Nice in charge of the Environment, Sustainable
Development, Research and New Technologies, and Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Monegasque Government Councillor for Community Facilities, Environment and Urban Planning, will describe
the provisions of this partnership in detail.
