HSH the Prince in His great-great-grandfather’s footsteps in Cody, Wyoming

On Thursday 19 September, HSH the Prince visited the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming, and its museums: Draper Natural History Museum, Whitney Gallery of Western Art and Buffalo Bill Museum, which created a faithful reproduction of Prince Albert I's camp using old photographs.
HSH the Prince posed for photographers just as his great-great-grandfather had in this camp to commemorate the century separating his own visit with that of Prince Albert I in 1913 (cf. attached photo).
He then went to the Buffalo Bill Center for a tree-planting ceremony in the garden, before meeting the 100-year-old Crow Indian Chief, Joe Medicine Crow, who sang in the Prince's honour and gave him a traditional Crow bolo tie.
At the invitation of the Buffalo Bill Center, the delegation accompanying the Sovereign --made up in particular of HE Gilles Noghes, Monegasque Ambassador to the United States, Lorenzo Ravano, chargé d'affaires with the Monegasque Embassy in the United States, SE Bernard Fautrier, Vice president of the Prince Albert II Foundation, John B Kelly, President of the American branch of the Prince's Foundation, Maguy Maccario Doyle, Monegasque Consul to the United States, and Didier Gamerdinger, Consultant in the Prince's Cabinet-- went to the Terrace Restaurant in Cody for the official ceremony to give the Camp Monaco Prize to two young researchers, Arthur Middleton and Joe Riis. The $100,000 award they received is a joint initiative of the University of Wyoming, the American branch of the Prince Albert II Foundation and the Buffalo Bill Center of the West to reward a scientific project on Biodiversity in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
The Prince then participated in a press conference alongside the two winners. The Sovereign once again delivered his message of support to the American people after the tragic shooting in Washington DC and the catastrophic floods in Colorado before answering questions on his visit to the United States and His family's ties with this country.

HSH Prince Albert II had already visited Cody in 1993, and Prince Albert I was the first European Head of State to go to Wyoming, in 1913, where he met Buffalo Bill.
