He will participate in the round table on Health and Education. On this occasion, He will recall that public aid for development in his country is expected to amount to 10 million euros for 2010, including 2.8 million euros for Health, a priority for Monegasque Development projects.
The Sovereign Prince will also participate in the round table on the Value of Sport as co-Chairman of the United Nations Group of Friends of Sport for Development and Peace*. For the Principality, this co-Chairmanship expresses HSH Prince Albert II's constant commitment and His efforts to highlight Sport as a means “going out to meet others in a spirit of mutual respect, tolerance and loyalty.” The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, will open this working session.
The Prince will also attend the launch of ‘Climate Week', a forum for discussing the implementation of industrial policy and financial mechanisms for creating jobs, fighting poverty and accelerating the process of instituting environmentally friendly energy policy. Just 70 days before the Cancún Summit (29 November-10 December), this event, organised by the United Nations, the City of New York, the United Nations Foundation and many NGOs, aims to create synergy between public and private partners. Its ambition is to hasten negotiations and reinforce proposals to fight climate change.
In His speech to the Forum, the Sovereign will emphasise the urgent need to encourage the use of electric vehicles.
Later in the day, invited by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, He will attend a reception, before participating in a UNDP dinner on Biodiversity at the American Museum of Natural History.
