In this very convivial meeting, European events were evoked, as was the economic situation of both the Principality and Austria, which enjoy strong development of service activities and tourism.
The Ruling Prince then met the Federal President Heinz Fischer. Both were pleased with the quality of relations between the two states and reviewed topics of common interest to them. This exchange demonstrated perfect convergence of views between the two countries, in particular Monaco's approval of the Mediterranean Union project.
The Prince presided over a lunch held in his honour by Christian Dorda, Honorary Consul of Monaco in Vienna, in the presence of diplomatic, economic and cultural personalities.
Franck Biancheri, Government Counsellor for External Relations and International Economic and Financial Affairs, spoke with Hans Winkler, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs. They discussed the need for small States to ensure that their specificities are taken into consideration in European construction.
The day ended with a working meeting for the Ruling Prince and His delegation with Wilhelm Molterer, Vice Chancellor and Minister of Finance, in which the similarity of approaches between the Principality and Austria was confirmed on economic and financial matters, tax issues in particular.
