70th Gala of the Monegasque Red Cross

On Friday, 27 July 2018, the 70th Gala of the Monegasque Red Cross took place in the presence of T.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, in the Salle des Étoiles of the Sporting Monte-Carlo.

For the Monegasque Red Cross, founded by Prince Louis II in 1948, this anniversary evening marked seventy years of daily work with the most vulnerable people. This evening paid a heartfelt tribute to the donors of the Monegasque Red Cross, whose generosity enables it to prevent and mitigate the suffering of those who need it.

In the Principality, 50 employees and more than 600 volunteer members give up their time to carry out the association's missions both on a national and international level in response to disasters and other National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. In 2017, more than 74,000 people in the world benefited directly from the actions of the Monegasque Red Cross, i.e. double the population of Monaco.

At the beginning of the evening, H.S.H. the Prince delivered a speech in French and English in which He presented the missions of the Monegasque Red Cross, the recent activities carried out in Burkina Faso and Ventimiglia in Italy. He also recalled His personal commitment, that of Princess Charlene and that of the members of His family to supporting the association's activities.

Presenting the evening of the 70th Gala of the Monegasque Red Cross was entrusted to Adriana Karembeu and Dr. Michel Cymes, who also led the tombola with Maïtena Biraben. The musical atmosphere was provided by the MamaDear country music trio, the Mack MacKenzie Band and the singer Seal, the British legend of soul with his many platinum discs, who came to fame in 1991 with the single "Crazy".

On this evening, the guests could also discover, in the hall of the Sporting Monte-Carlo, the work by sculptor Jean-Michel Othoniel, entitled "The Heart of the Red Cross", a donation by the artist to the association.

On the occasion of the 70 years of the Monegasque Red Cross, an exhibition combining photos, videos and works by major artists such as Damien Hirst and Arman which retraced 70 years of activity was held from 13 February to 3 March 2018, at the exhibition hall of the Quai Antoine I in Monaco. An event to mark the anniversary of the Monegasque Red Cross which has carried out seven decades of work.
