Visit of H.S.H. Prince Albert II to Vienna and Bratislava

From Saturday 12 to Monday 14 October 2019, Prince Albert II paid a three-day visit to the cities of Vienna (capital of Austria) and Bratislava (capital of Slovakia).

In Vienna, the Sovereign Prince was the guest of honour at the "Flame of Peace" party organised by Mrs Herta Habsburg-Lothringen and her husband Count Sandor.

At the end of the evening, the couple awarded Him this distinction which honours women and men of peace.

On Sunday 13 October, H.S.H. the Prince travelled to Bratislava to support the first edition of the "No Finish Line" organised by Mr Philippe Verdier, the creator of this solidarity race.

The Sovereign, surrounded by big names in Slovak sports such as Peter Sagan (cycling), Dominik Hrbaty (tennis), Matej Toth (race walking), took part in the final kilometres of this last event and presented the trophies to the winners.

On Monday 14 October, Prince Albert was invited by the prestigious Slovak Comenius University to receive an honorary degree of Doctor Honoris Causa for His substantial actions in defence of the environment since His creation of the Prince Albert II Foundation in 2006.

Mr Peter Pellegrini, President of the Slovak Government, and Mr Ladislav Kamenicky, Slovak Minister of Economy and Finance, attended the ceremony.

In the afternoon, His Serene Highness attended the Mlynska Dolina Faculty of Science to participate in a conference on environmental issues and to hold discussions with the large number of students who had attended especially for this occasion before He returned to the Principality of Monaco at the very end of the afternoon.
