Visit of H.S.H. Prince Albert II to Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes)

On Monday 26 October 2020 at the end of the morning, H.S.H. Prince Albert II was welcomed in the town of Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes) by Mr Jean Leonetti, Mayor of the town.

The Sovereign Prince and Mr Leonetti unveiled a plaque, in front of the Fort Carré, showing it is part of the "Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco" network.

The Sovereign then went to the Grimaldi castle, now the Picasso Museum, located in the old town of Antibes to see the medieval parchments which he helped to acquire for the benefit of the Antibes Municipal Archives. These precious documents relate to how the castle and the city came into the possession of the Grimaldis at the end of the 14th century.

Then, under the guidance of Mr Jean-Louis Andral, Curator of the Picasso Museum, the Prince visited the permanent and temporary exhibitions.

In their respective speeches, Mr Leonetti and H.S.H. the Prince expressed the hope that the historical ties would lead to renewed relations in various fields in the future.
