Visit of H.S.H. Prince Albert II to Villeneuve-Loubet

As part of His regular visits to territories historically linked to His family, H.S.H. Prince Albert II visited Villeneuve-Loubet, in the Alpes-Maritimes department, on Monday June 12, 2023.

The ties between Villeneuve-Loubet and the Principality of Monaco date back a long way. In the Middle Ages, the fortress of Villeneuve was under the control of the Grimaldis of Monaco for almost a century, while large stretches of land in Loubet belonged to Grimaldis of the Antibes and Cagnes branch.

The Sovereign Prince was welcomed late morning by the Mayor of Villeneuve-Loubet, Lionnel LUCCA. Upon entering the town, he unveiled the sign indicating the city's affiliation to the "Historic Sites Grimaldi of Monaco" network.

H.S.H. the Prince and His delegation then walked to the Town Hall, where speeches were given in the Council Chamber. The Prince unveiled a plaque commemorating his visit.

In the early afternoon, H.S.H. the Prince visited the 16th-century Château de Vaugrenier.
