H.S.H. Prince Albert II participated in the 6th Summit of the European Political Community, held in Tirana, Albania, on Friday, May 16, 2025. This event brought together heads of state and government from across Europe, as well as leaders from European institutions, the OSCE, and NATO, to discuss key issues relating to stability, security, and cooperation on the continent.
Organized in an informal and inclusive format, this high-level meeting aims to strengthen political dialogue between European states, both members and non-members of the European Union, in the face of common challenges.
The Sovereign took part in the round table entitled “Competitiveness, Energy and Connectivity,” during which he stressed the importance of multilateralism and regional cooperation in responding to current crises, particularly in the areas of security and energy transition.
Insisting on the need to reduce our energy dependence on external sources of supply, H.S.H. the Prince highlighted Monaco's efforts to develop renewable energies, which are cross-cutting priorities for all European countries.
On the sidelines of the summit, H.S.H. Prince Albert met with numerous leaders, including Ms. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, Ms. Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, and Mr. Antonio Costa, President of the European Council. He discussed relations between Monaco and the EU, as well as topics of mutual interest such as environmental and ocean conservation. In this regard, he mentioned Monaco's hosting of the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (June 7 and 8) as part of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference.
H.S.H. the Prince also greeted the Ukrainian President, Mr. Volodymyr Zelensky, reaffirming Monaco's support for Ukraine and its people.
Prince Albert finally met with Mr. Edi Rama, Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania and host of the event, during a bilateral meeting.
