7th Summit of the European Political Community in Copenhagen, Denmark

H.S.H. Prince Albert attended the 7th Summit of the European Political Community, held in Copenhagen on Thursday, October 2, 2025. This meeting brought together European heads of state and government, as well as leaders of European institutions and several international organizations, to strengthen dialogue and cooperation in the face of major common challenges.
The Sovereign took part in the round table entitled “Economic Security and Reducing European Dependencies.” He emphasized the importance of multilateralism, recalling that every state, regardless of its size, must be able to contribute to collective responses. He stressed the need to reduce external dependencies in the strategic sectors of energy, technology, and defense, and highlighted the role of innovation and public support for high value-added sectors. The Prince cited, as an example, Monaco's startup incubator dedicated to clean energy, illustrating Monaco's contribution to ecological transition and decarbonization.
The Sovereign Prince also took part in the round table discussion on the creation of a European coalition against drugs, an initiative launched at the Tirana Summit in May 2025 by France and Italy, aimed at strengthening European cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking and illicit financial flows, and developing prevention programs.
On the sidelines of the proceedings, Prince Albert II held talks with the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, whom he congratulated on Cyprus's upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026, emphasizing the importance of European unity.
The Sovereign also met with the Head of Government of Andorra, Xavier Espot Zamora, whom he thanked for the welcome and exemplary organization of the Games of the Small States of Europe last June, recalling that sport will be a key focus of Monaco's presidency of the Council of Europe.
