High-level conference for the peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine
H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, attending the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, took part in the conference on Palestine co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia.
Monaco thus joins more than 150 states that have recognized Palestine.
In his statement, His Serene Highness recalled that October 7, 2023, was the starting point of the current chaos, that all hostages must be released, and that Hamas must be disarmed.
True to his commitment to international law and peace among peoples, the Sovereign declared: “Peace can no longer remain a distant prospect: it must be embodied in institutions, in mutual guarantees, and in effective respect for the rights of all.”
Aware of the long road ahead to make expectations a reality, he concluded: “Peace cannot be decreed, it must be built through a common will.”
