H.E. Mr Kinh Tai LE was accompanied for the occasion by Mr Le Thai BUI, Political adviser of the Embassy of Vietnam. After being welcomed in the Cour d'Honneur of the Palace by the Company of Carabinieri guard of honour under the command of Colonel Yannick Bersihand, Senior Commander of the Police Force, Ambassador Kinh Tai LE was taken to the Hall of Mirrors by H.S.H the Prince's Chamberlain, Colonel Luc Fringant, with Mr Le Thai BUI.
H.E. Mr Kinh Tai LE then proceeded to present his Credentials to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince who was accompanied by the Secretary of State, Mr Jacques Boisson, Head of H.S.H the Prince's Government, Mr Georges Lisimachio and H.E. Mr Franck Biancheri, Government Counsellor for External Relations and for International Economic and Financial Affairs. After the ceremony, H.S.H the Prince held a private audience with the Ambassador in the family drawing room.
The Socialist Republic of Vietnam becomes the fifty-fifth country accredited to the Principality. Diplomatic relations were officially established between Monaco and Vietnam on 29th November 2007.
Monaco and Vietnam are linked by their use of the French language. Vietnam has been a member of the International Organization of the Francophonie since 1970.
On a humanitarian level, Mission Enfance and AMADE Mondiale in cooperation with the Institut du Fleuve have set up several schools in various regions of Vietnam, in Blao and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
The Prince Albert II foundation also supports a cooperation program between cities for the treatment of urban effluents.
