H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco's official visit to Romania

During His meeting in Bucharest with the President of Romania, H.E. Mr Traian BASESCU at the Cotroceni Palace, the Sovereign Prince emphasised that the Principality and Romania drew their roots from the same Latin culture and that the French speaking communities brought them closer together.  He concluded by wishing that through this visit and at the end of this exchange, the cooperation between both countries would experience a new boost, not only in economic areas, but also in protecting the environment and culture.

The Prince then met with Mircea GEOANA, President of the Senate and Adrian NASTASE, Vice President of the Chamber of Ministers in the Romanian Parliament before visiting the Government's headquarters,  Victoria Palace for an audience with Romania's Prime Minister, Mr Emil Boc.

In the afternoon, the Sovereign Prince and the delegation from Monaco met with representatives from the chamber of commerce as well as 55 people belonging to different sectors of the economy. Several practical proposals for cooperation between Romania and Monaco were expressed by H.E. Mr Franck BIANCHERI during this meeting.

Shortly afterwards H.S.H. Prince Albert II was received by His Beatitude the Patriarch Daniel, Head of the Romanian Orthodox Church, before visiting the Romanian Peasant Museum. In the evening, the Romanian President held a dinner in His Honour at the Presidential Palace.

On Friday 24th April, the Prince's journey continued in Tulcea, in the Danube Delta. In fact, after visiting the Eco-Museal centre opened in April 2009 which presents the history of the Danube and its fauna and flora, the Sovereign Prince sailed on the Danube, a place where the Prince Albert II Foundation could carry out some projects.
