This opening took place in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II along with a large number of representatives from the Government, the Principality's National Council (Parliament), UNAIDS (Princess Stephanie was appointed ?Special Representative" in October 2006) and voluntary affiliated members from the association (people living with HIV/AIDS), members of the board of directors and permanent staff.
With its new design, this functional facility will enable the seven volunteers and five permanent staff to accommodate the association's 150 affiliated members in the best possible conditions. This new space will facilitate group activity (IT lessons, yoga sessions, drama lessons) and the organisation of outings (sporting events, concerts) and trips.
The aim of Fight Aids Monaco (F.A.M.) is to inform and warn as many people as possible of the dangers of HIV/AIDS, by carrying out initiatives in schools and nightclubs. The association also conducts information campaigns with the regional and local press.
F.A.M. supports AIDS sufferers and their families by providing material and psychological assistance.
The association also carries out initiatives abroad where it supports the actions of NGOs in Madagascar and Burundi in association with Monaco's Department of International Cooperation.
Princess Stephanie has been the founding President of Fight Aids Monaco since 2004.
